Community Partnerships

We recognise that partnerships between the school and our community is key to helping all students’ access learning. We strive to provide information to parents, whanau about children’s learning and plan opportunities for involvement.   This includes community events where learning is shared, who we are is celebrated, and our strengths and interests are encouraged and supported.

Regular consultation takes place with the school community, including Maori and Pasifika whanau / fanau, to ensure priorities and perspectives are considered and included in decision making. Contexts for this include Maori Hui, Pasifika Fono, Playgroup parents, Parent Curriculum Information Evenings and Parent focus groups for identified purposes.

Relationships exist with a variety of groups which assist our school to reflect community priorities and school needs.   These include:

• PACT (Papatoetoe Adolescent Christian Trust) – support in school for individuals and groups and in the community with families.
• Tironui Trust – string orchestra established in 2008 as part of a community cluster of schools. Students are provided with free instruments and music lessons.
• Papatoetoe Principals Festivals: Choir / Art Exhibition – these are held in alternate years and involve all Papatoetoe Primary and Intermediate years.  
• Local Businesses Network – through the development of Our Living Classroom we have established relationships with local businesses in our community.
• Counties Manukau Sports / Find Your Field of Dreams (John Walker Trust) – provide opportunities for our students within the local sporting community.

Within our school we endeavour to build partnerships with our community in a number of ways. These include:

• School events  - Annual concerts and picnic - Learning Expo- Special Community days eg Diversity Day - Year 6 Formal Dinner and Dance - Year 6 Graduation - EOTC Activities e.g. camp, school trips, - Junior Pyjama Night
